David Conger

David Conger: Assistant Director of Bands - Callisburg Middle School

Mr. Conger is a graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University (Bachelor of Music Education) and of Texas Woman's University (Master of Arts in Music Education), at which he had many opportunities to perform in both large and small/chamber ensembles, and was able to present his research material at the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) annual conference in 2018. His primary instrument is percussion.

Mr. Conger has a heart for small school band programs and has actively sought out opportunities to teach in such settings. His philosophy of education is one of a praxial-pragmatic approach. He believes that the praxial in music education is to teach students to be reflective practitioners as they engage in performing-, improvising-, arranging-, composing-, and conducting-and-listening. He also supports the pragmatic philosophy that believes in goals of a nonmusical nature such
as contributing to the community and its health as well as music being a contributing factor in academic success.

He is in his second year of teaching and first year at Callisburg and lives in Callisburg.
