  • Callisburg boys basketball season has begun.

The Callisburg boys basketball program kicked off the season this past Monday at home against Gunter. At the junior high level each team suffered a defeat. Although they did not come away with a victory, I could not be more proud of our junior high basketball players. These young men had only one official practice before their first game, and came out surprised a lot of people with how well they played together. With more practice time ahead these ballplayers will continue to get better and find more success on the basketball court. Also on Monday the JV2 team played against Gunter. Going into the game the JV2 team only had six players available. The boys played the first half close, but unfortunately the tall task of playing with six players took its toll and Gunter ran away with the game late. The JV2 showed a lot of promise and will make immediate improvements when they are back at full strength.

The Callisburg varsity and junior varsity boys teams kicked off their season Tuesday at home against Prairie Valley. In the JV game the boys won in an instant classic. Down one point with time running out the boys hit a game winner at the buzzer to escape with a thrilling win. In the varsity game, the boys won a back and forth battle with Prairie Valley. Both teams showed a lot of promise and look to continue their success Friday at home against Trenton. Come out and support these boys this Friday with the JV boys starting at 5:00, and the varsity boys following after.
     Have a great weekend,
    Coach Jessie
