    6th Grade Language Arts

    Course Overview

In 6th Grade Language Arts, students continue to develop an appreciation of written and spoken language.  Students will write personal narratives, poems, and expository text using the fundamentals of the writing process.  Vocabulary, spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and grammar will be studied in depth throughout the year to support their comprehension of written expression.

Daily work counts 70% of your grade and tests are 30%. If work is not turned in when expected or it is incomplete, lunch detention and or SWIM Camp will be assigned. Lunch detention will be assigned the day the assignment was due and every day after until the assignment is completed satisfactorily. SWIM Camp will be held Wednesday and Friday from 3:30-5:00. IT IS THE STUDENT’S RESPONSIBILITY TO NOTIFY THE PARENT OF THEIR SWIM CAMP ASSIGNMENT!  If the student turns the work in before their assigned SWIM Camp day, 10 points will be deducted.  If the student completes it in SWIM Camp, 20 points are deducted.  If a student does not finish it in SWIM Camp, they will complete it in ISS and 30 points are deducted from the grade.

    Rules and Discipline

If there is misbehavior, students will receive lunch detention in my classroom. If it continues, parents will be notified. If the student is still exhibiting the same behavior issues, direct office referrals will be sent.
