WELCOME TO JOURNALISM--Mrs. Strahan
JournalismThis class is designed to introduce the history and basic elements of journalism. Students will learn the Associated Press Guidelines, the basics of creating a newspaper, broadcasting on the radio, and designing, marketing and publishing a yearbook.
This class concentrates on writing articles, conducting interviews, and publishing The Prowler newspaper. Students will also meet photograph and publishing deadlines.
Advanced Journalism-Radio Broadcasting
Radio broadcasting students will learn radio jargon, operational terminology for the radio station, write, produce and broadcast radio programs, update the music selection log, conduct recorded interviews and broadcast live on the radio on Camp Sweeney's KPFC-FM 89.1 and 91.9. Students will conduct daily programs including: CHS-In the News, This Day In History, Fun Facts, Word Power, CHS Sport Center, Texas Stars and a myriad of other programs throughout the year.
This journalism class is an advanced publications class that focuses on creating the CHS Wildcat yearbook. Students learn how to design, edit, take photos, and market this publication. Students also learn to conduct a business from selling advertising to delivering a print publication that records the history of the school and lasts forever. Each year they add new technology knowledge as this journalism field is constantly changing. Currently, we are learning how to link Aurasma into our yearbook to create video links for different photos captured in our Wildcat Yearbook publication.
